About

meruit, Latin — earned.

The name carries the commercial model whole. A saving is not a saving until someone independent has confirmed it, and a fee should not be earned until then either. Nothing on this site departs from that.

The AI is how it became affordable to work this way. Charging only for proven savings requires reaching the proof quickly — and until recently, reaching it took a team the best part of a quarter.

Why we exist

Cost programmes fail in a predictable way. A firm arrives, runs interviews, produces a number built largely on judgement, and leaves. Eighteen months later the finance director cannot find the saving in the accounts, and nobody can say precisely where it went.

The failure is almost never in the negotiation. It is in the evidence — the baseline that was assumed rather than measured, the saving that was claimed rather than traced, the governance that stopped the day the invoice was settled.

Meruit was built to close that gap. We read the data completely before forming a view, we make you approve every action before we take it, and we tie our own fee to what your finance function will actually certify.

The experience isn’t new. The speed is.

Meruit is a new firm. It is not a firm of new people. Between them, the people who deliver these engagements have more than a hundred years of commercial negotiating experience — categories run, tenders closed, and a good deal of time spent on the supplier side of the table, which is where you learn how these conversations are actually won.

What changed is recent. For most of those hundred years, the first three or four months of a cost programme went on assembling the evidence: pulling spend data together, finding the contracts, working out what was actually being paid to whom. Necessary, expensive, and worth nothing to the client on its own.

In the last six months the tooling has become good enough to do that work in two or three weeks. Same people, same judgement, same negotiating instinct — applied to a complete picture in the first fortnight instead of the fifth month.

2–3 weeks

From receipt of your data to a complete, evidenced Value Roadmap.

Previously a three-to-four-month exercise.
Recovery starts sooner

Savings compound from the day they land. Reaching the Roadmap in a fortnight rather than a quarter is worth considerably more than the elapsed time it saves.

Why there are no case studies here.

You will not find a logo wall on this site. The individuals have long track records, but Meruit itself is new, and hanging other people’s engagements behind our name would be exactly the sort of unearned claim the whole model exists to reject.

What we offer instead is a method set out in enough detail to judge, a platform we will show you rather than describe, and a commercial structure that puts the risk on us. If we are wrong about your savings, you get the money back. Very few firms with long client lists will write that down.

Who you will be working with

Career procurement and commercial specialists — people who have run these categories at scale, and who have spent as much time on the supplier side of the table as the buyer’s. Small by design: the people who scope your engagement are the people who deliver it.

We don’t list them here. Several hold senior positions elsewhere today, and we would rather introduce them properly than advertise them. You get named individuals, with the track record relevant to your categories, at proposal stage — before you commit to anything.
